New sci-fi series 12 Monkeys, which premiered earlier this year on Pay TV, comes to SBS 2 next week.
The 13 part series is based on the 1995 time-travel film which starred Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis.
This drama series follows the journey of Stanford, a time traveller from a post-apocalyptic future, who heads to the present to stop a plague that will eventually decimate the human race.

Episode One: Splinter (9.25pm)
In the first episode, Dr. Cassie Railly explains that the world is due for another epidemic and quite possibly a pandemic.
Episode Two: Mentally Divergent (10.15pm)
In 2043, Jones realises that the recording they’ve had of Dr. Railly has said “Army of the 12 Monkeys” and remembers this symbol appeared in a mental institution in 2015.

I’ve watched the first two episodes so far and it’s looking pretty good so far. Close enough to the movie to retain the good bits but with enough differences to make it last a season. The concern as always is that they’ll spin it out over multiple seasons until it loses its edge and dies an unlamented death in season 3 or 4.
Interesting, this may be an indication that SBS2 will continue to play old Foxtel shows, despite the ratings not working out.
Another one of those shows that starts well, goes round in circles and leads nowhere.
