Now this is worth getting excited about.

Next week Stan will premiere UnREAL the US satire which depicts the shameless conduct of a Reality TV dating show.

This has been attracting considerable buzz in the US since it premiered a month ago. Co-creator Marti Noxon wrote for Buffy, Angel, Glee and Private Practice.

Episodes 1-6 of the ten part series will be available at once on July 11, with new episodes available every Tuesday same day as US broadcast.

UnREAL is a provocative drama taking you behind-the-scenes of a fictitious reality TV dating show starring Shiri Appleby (Girls) and Constance Zimmer (House of Cards, Entourage). The series has received rave reviews across the board in the US. It was inspired by co-creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro’s 2013 SXSW award-winning short film Sequin Raze.

Set against the backdrop of the hit dating competition show ‘Everlasting’, UnREAL is led by flawed heroine Rachel Goldberg (Appleby), a young producer whose sole job is to manipulate her relationships with, and among, the contestants to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage that the program’s dispassionate executive producer, Quinn King (Zimmer), demands. What ensues is an eye-opening look at what happens in the outrageous world of unscripted television, where being a contestant can be vicious and being a producer a whole other reality.

UnREAL also stars Craig Bierko (Damages) as Everlasting’s eccentric creator Chet and Freddie Stroma (Pitch Perfect) as the dating show’s handsome and intelligent suitor, Adam Cromwell.

Everlasting’s contestants include Grace, portrayed by Nathalie Kelley (The Fast and the Furious), who immediately wins Adam’s heart and Anna, played by Johanna Braddy (Shameless), who is classy and shrewd, with her eye on the prize. Arielle Kebbel (The Vampire Diaries) guest stars as Britney, a contestant who has no filter and isn’t on Everlasting to make any friends.

UnREAL is produced by A+E Studios. Marti Noxon, Sally DeSipio and Robert M. Sertner are executive producers, Sarah Gertrude Shapiro serves as supervising producer and Stacy Rukeyser as co-executive producer.

  1. I’m so addicted to this show. I don’t even watch that type of reality tv. But it’s twisted, mean, funny, depressing and jaw dropping and so cynical. It’s the best role I’ve seen Appleby or Zimmer in in a very long time.

I am hoping they renew it.

  2. Looks brilliant, good people behind and in front of the camera and with Noxon writing you know it should be half decent. I predict a 0% chance of this ever being on FTA television in Australia, which is now itself, as good a recomendation as you could get.
