Broadchurch yet to begin filming third season

UK locals are surprised Broadchurch has not been filming in the summer this year.

In case you missed the memo, we’re getting a third season of Broadchurch with David Tennant and Olivia Colman, though it could be some time before hitting our screens.

While the series normally films in the UK summer, it appears to be pushed back to autumn due to Colman’s pregnancy.

That may mean the look of the series is also affected with Radio Times speculating it may well involve ‘scarves, jumpers, stews and rosy-cheeked west country folk.’

Many locals in West Bay, Dorset, were surprised that filming hadn’t started yet. Also the location for The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin & Harbour Lights, the area has seen a big increase in tourism thanks to the series’ backdrop.

ITV are remaining tight-lipped and will only say the show is still “in pre-production”. As with the last series, all details about the new episodes are being kept under wraps.

While Colman and Tennant are back, Andrew Buchan -who plays Mark Latimer- said last month he has no idea if he will be back.

Whatever is in store, fingers crossed the series is a lot more focussed than S2 with convoluted plots of former cases getting in the way of the main event, and ratings dropping both in the UK and Australia.
