Single claims he was one of the final 6 for Farmer Wants a Wife but his place went to Married at First Sight's Lachlan.

One of the prospective farmers who was looking for love on The Farmer Wants a Wife claims he has been overstepped in favour of former Married at First Sight single, Lachlan.

Scott Mitchell, a stud farmer from Culcairn, NSW, told Fairfax Media he was told by FremantleMedia that he was one of the final six farmers pitched to Channel Nine, but he had been replaced by Lachlan.

Nine asserts that Lachlan had been an applicant from the beginning and Mitchell simply missed out.

“I’m 36, I’ve been through a fair bit, I don’t need to lie about stuff,” Mitchell said.

“I’ve got nothing against their call.

“The integrity on their side of things, I judge that, but they have a business to run.”

A casting website for the series initially included 8 farmers and updated to 10, for single females to nominate a farmer in their application. Last week A Current Affair announced Lachlan would be part of the upcoming season.

A FremantleMedia spokesperson told TV Tonight, “It was the exact same casting process as every other year of Farmer. We put 10+ farmers on the website, and they all understand that only 6 will appear in the show. No guarantees. It is a casting process.

“Once the casting decision is made we advise all farmers of the decision, and keep the Final 6 up on the site until Wives applications close.”

  1. It’s television, what do you expect? the Weekend Today show even interviewed this Scott guy. Lachlan would have been picked by the producers from his popularity on Married at First Sight as by the end of the show he was still with his partner till sometime after. I don’t know why they have to lie?
