On Wednesday ABC will broadcast a marriage equality debate between Senators Cory Bernardi and Penny Wong at the National Press Club of Australia.
It will broadcast live at 12:30pm AEST on ABC News 24 and 12:30pm on ABC TV (local time).
The debate will also be live-streamed at: abc.net.au/news24
The two South Australian Senators have long been opposing voices in the marriage equality debate in Australia.
Senator Wong advocates for an amendment to the Marriage Act to allow same-sex marriage, while Senator Bernardi is resolutely against change.
The same-sex marriage debate takes place ahead of the return of Parliament in August, when the issue looks set to take political centre-stage with a cross party marriage equality bill expected to be introduced.
The National Press Club is Australia’s leading forum for discussion and debate and for major statements on politics and public policy. Decision makers, Australian political leaders, foreign Heads of State and leaders from all fields of society are among the speakers at the National Press Club.
The addresses are broadcast live on ABC TV and ABC News 24 and also live-streamed online at: abc.net.au/news24

Two South Australian senators, well that says it all. I wouldn’t expect much to come out of this debate.
Oh wow…..the extremists on both sides of the debate.Someone, however needs to remind Cory that it is not interspecies marriage being debated, its just humans….no animals involved. Both sides will just be preaching to their converted constituents
It’s barely credible to refer to Wong as an extremist. Her views on a wide range of issues (including this one) are pretty much mainstream.
Thanks for your tireless energies in pointing to such a panoply of events, David. I don’t know how you do it! I wouldn’t have found this at all.
