Oops. X Factor promo serves up host as barman.

After losing his licence for drink driving, should Luke Jacobz really be depicted as a barman in this promo?

A bit of unfortunate timing for Seven’s X Factor promo which sees Chris Isaak, Guy Sebastian and James Blunt walk into a bar -with host Luke Jacobz as the barman.

Earlier this month Jacobz, real name is Luke Ashwood, lost his licence and was fined $700 after pleading guilty to drink driving.

Presumably this promo, which also features Dannii Minogue, was already underway when the charges came about. Or they opted for a little controversy to help.

  1. He was done for a driving offence, not a drinking one – it would have been inappropriate for him to be depicted driving in the promo but I don’t see what the issue is with him standing behind a bar.

And I agree it’s a strange promo. Feels like they’ve tried to copy Nine’s Voice promos.

  2. I have no issue with Jacobz working in a “bar” but I do have an issue with this crappy promo..
I don’t mind the xfactor but this promo isn’t making me excited about watching it. It’s actually turning me off.. there’s something not right about the concept and the mixing. It feels very disjointed and pointless.
I’m Kent Brockman and these are my two cents.

  3. I personally didn’t think it was a big deal and neither did Seven but others may have their own opinion. I suppose it is subject to one’s interpretation when they see the promo.
