But will it have Heather Locklear as a Special Guest Star….?

US cable network Lifetime is has announced an unauthorised telemovie, The Unauthorized Melrose Place Story.

It’s the fourth to be greenlit, following similar projects on Saved by the Bell, Full House and Beverly Hills: 90210.

The Aaron Spelling series created by Darren Star ran from 1992-99 as a melodrama mega-hit, with Courtney Thorne-Smith, Andrew Shue, Grant Show, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett, Doug Savant, Marcia Cross and Heather Locklear, among others.

Hollywood Reporter notes the telemovie will draw upon true stories, interviews and anecdotes such as Locklear arriving to “save” Melrose to the actors begging its writers for even wilder storylines.

Melrose was a huge hit in Australia for Network TEN, with fan party pizza nights, pub screenings and a “Tuesday Night’s a Bitch” campaign.

It’s not clear where this project would land for Australian viewers, but Lifetime’s miniseries on Marilyn Monroe is currently screening on SoHo.

The Unauthorized Full House Story airs in the US in August.

  1. Channel 10 often are credited with the “Tuesday nights’ a bitch” thing being such a great success. While it was indeed, they actually just ripped it straight from FOX who used “Monday night’s a bitch” to promote the same program in the US.
Either way, it was certainly one of the most iconic shows of the 90s.

  2. Nice reference, David, at the start of your report. 🙂 This’ll be fun. Considering a lot of the original cast were unknowns and B grade stars; I can only wonder as what the pedigree of the actors depicting the original players will be. Tawdry! Love it……
