Recent reports have suggested The Block or House Rules -or both- has been eyeing property on the Mornington Peninsula.

Block executive producer Julian Cress confirms the Nine show is on the hunt for a beach house.

“We’re always looking for great properties for the next series of The Block. We remain ever-hopeful that we will get to make the next series of The Block. Every time we do one we hope that we will get to do it again,” he told TV Tonight.

“We have been looking at some properties down on the Mornington Peninsula.

“Unfortunately somebody else bought it, but that doesn’t stop us looking again. It’s a great area. It’s where Melbourne goes to holiday. If you can afford it it’s really aspirational.

“It would be wonderful to take The Block out of the city and do a beach-house version of the show.”

Both the first and second seasons, in Bondi and Manly, incorporated beach backdrops into the show’s character.

Filming is currently in South Yarra at the former Hotel Saville for its next season, due later this year. But with the amount of planning required The Block is always looking ahead to the next potential season.

“It’s just a matter of finding the right bit of property,” he continued.

“We never stop looking.”
