Next week SBS 2 premieres a new 8 part Dutch drama Holland’s Hope, who runs the farm he inherits from his father, only to discover it has a giant marijuana plantation hidden among the crops.

Meet Fokke Augustinus: a sharp forensic psychiatrist, working with the criminally insane. Not
afraid to use unorthodox methods or experiments, he books fast results. But in this process he’s
often showing too much of himself, and allowing some patients to come too close.

Lately things haven’t been the same. His inability to communicate with the ones dearest to him,
is almost costing him his family. His beautiful, passionate wife Machteld feels trapped in
suburbia, and his teenage son Pepijn is drifting towards apathy.

Fokke has arrived at an important crossroad in his life. On the same day he learns about the
death of his father, his wife decides she wants to divorce him. Now that he’s about to lose it all,
it finally occurs to him what’s most important – his family.

In a bold move to give his marriage one last chance, he plans to move to the quiet countryside
and escape suburbia with all its destructive lures. He accepts the inheritance of Holland’s Hope;
the remote farm he grew up in and left long ago.

Episode One: There is a House in Holland
After losing his job and his father, forensic psychiatrist Fokke Augustinus takes his dysfunctional
family to his father’s mansion in the countryside in Groningen where he discovers a giant
marijuana plantation hidden among the crops.

Tuesday, 1 September at 9.30pm on SBS 2.
