Say what you like about Homeland, when it hits its stride it is still capable of powerful stuff.

The new season, set in Germany, begins in the US in early October, now with Miranda Otto in the cast.

Homeland season five will pick up two years after Carrie Mathison’s (Claire Danes) ill-fated tenure as Islamabad station chief. Struggling to reconcile her guilt and disillusionment with years of working on the front lines in the “war on terror,” Carrie finds herself in a self-imposed exile in Berlin, estranged from the CIA and working as the head of security for a German philanthropist. Recently nominated for the Emmy for Outstanding Drama series, Homeland stars Emmy, Screen Actors Guild® and Golden Globe® Award winner Claire Danes, Emmy nominee Rupert Friend, Oscar® winner and Emmy nominee F. Murray Abraham, Sebastian Koch, Screen Actors Guild winner Miranda Otto, Alexander Fehling, Sarah Sokolovic, and Emmy and Tony® winner Mandy Patinkin.

  1. I’ve seen quite a bit of content for S5 and it all looks really good, better than S4 and a lot better than S3. I enjoyed both S1 and S2 but they were a different series that just happened to share a title and some characters. Am looking fwd to October.

  2. For me it’s not the same without Damian Lewis. I thought the last season started great but lost momentum quickly.
I do like Claire Danes and I think she’s very good in this, but ever since she became a producer she’s been trying to turn it into the “Carrie show” and edge Brody out.
Now that they’ve done that it just feels like a different show altogether. It has hints of what it used to be but can never be as good without him.
