Keiynan Lonsdale joins The Flash

Former Dance Academy actor Keiynan Lonsdale goes from strength to strength, this week announced to join US superhero series The Flash.

He will play Wally West, the iconic speedster from the DC Comics universe who made his debut as Kid Flash. He will appear as a series regular in season two.

Lonsdale, who recently appeared in Insurgent, has also appeared in All Saints and was an MTV VJ.

Wally is the nephew of Iris West (Candice Patton), the love interest and eventual wife of Barry Allen (Grant Gustin). While Wally initially served as his uncle’s sidekick and a founding member of the Teen Titans, he later inherited Barry’s mantle as The Flash.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of Lonsdale’s casting, “Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.”
