"If we actually hit 200,000 viewers on News 24 I will set up a Twitter account," he promised in March 2015.

“I’ll make a deal with you. If we actually hit 200,000 viewers on News 24 I will set up a Twitter account. How’s that?”
So pledged Tony Jones in March 2015 when Lateline relaunched on ABC News 24.
Last night the show did more than double that figure: 414,000 viewers. So will he follow through on the promise, or do we just take that as a Comment?
Co-host Emma Alberici has already re-tweeted that Jones should now join her on Twitter.

If you decide to ‘poll’ this DK…don’t forget an ‘I don’t care’ button….*G*
That 414k figure will be for the peak of the spill coverage (9:30-10pm), not Lateline.
I don’t think Lateline started until after 11pm, though that might be the 221k ABC News LE (Late Evening?).
It’s for Lateline on ABC News 24, which airs at 9:30. Lateline is repeated on ABC around 10:40 and got 584,000.
On a normal night, yes, but News24 was still showing rolling coverage from Canberra at 9:30pm last night and Lateline didn’t air anywhere until about 11pm.
Some, like me, Waleed Aly, Tony Jones, don’t feel the urge or have the time to waste being a twit.
And here was me thinking that the reason that you weren’t telling everyone what you’ve been having for lunch was because you have crappy internet!
Given the open hostility Mr Aly has to Tony Abbott, do you actually need him to be on twitter to guess what his views will be?
Haha absolutely not. His views are exactly the reason why
Can we get Waleed Aly on Twitter too? Would have liked his views last night.
