It was a screaming frenzy this morning when Justin Bieber returned to Sunrise, some 5 years after his first appearance.

A concert staged at Cockatoo Island drew a rabid fans, as he performed hits including What Do You Mean, Boyfriend and Baby, Baby.

Such was the fan frenzy that #BieberIsland is still trending at #1 on Twitter.

Bieber, who also appeared on The X Factor last night, was also interviewed by David Koch and Sam Armytage.

“It’s really awesome to just have so many people accept me again, and just know that I’m on a good path and just knowing myself, it feels great” the Canadian pop star said.

Asking about how he compares himself today to 12 months ago, he said,”It’s pretty much night and day.

“I just feel like I see the world in a different way now, I think that before I was so tainted by so many people disappointing me and a lot of people I put my trust in let me down. So I just looked at people like you know that’s what they were gonna do.”

He was also asked if he felt like he had been hanging around with the wrong crowd in the past.

“I think yeah I definitely had people that were taking advantage of me and taking advantage of the situation that’s for sure,” he said.

“I got a good crew now and they are all really encouraging and all really supportive and that’s what you gotta do, find people that will drive you forward and not pull you back.”

But there were no specific questions about headlines this week, including allegations of a drink being spiked at a party he hosted. A teen model who spoke to A Current Affair last night cleared him of any direct involvement.

“How do you handle the constant scrutiny, headlines and attention?” Sam Armytage asked Bieber.

“I’ve just learned not to put my my validity in what people think. Even when people are loving me I’m not getting my validity from that, I get it from myself, from God. It’s just a whole different perspective.”
