Another US drama has moved from Free to Air to Pay TV with Foxtel set to premiere Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. next month.

Season Three will premiere at 8.30pm Wednesday October 14 on FOX8, two weeks after its US debut.

The first-run rights follows Foxtel picking up premiere rights to Arrow, formerly on Nine. It isn’t clear if either Seven or Nine enjoying later broadcast rights, but that could still be possible.

In the premiere, S.H.I.E.L.D will come face-to-face with another organisation searching for powered people after Coulson (Clark Gregg), Agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) and the team discover a new Inhuman. Meanwhile, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker as) goes to great lengths to try and get Simmons back after her dramatic disappearance.

      1. Was just thinking the same thing. Hope they will still show it. Have also noticed they are saying ‘watch DC shows with the world’. Does that mean super girl will be express now rather than December?

      2. I watched The Flash last night and they were advertising a show called Stitchers for 8:30pm 14th October. The EPG says the same thing too. Would you have an update where it’s gone to? Trying desperately to avoid spoilers here!

  1. So is Once Upon A time and Scandal the next to move to Foxtel? Seven has no interest in showing them.

I’m glad I deleted this show from the PVR after recording two seasons.

  2. Have to think seriously about investing any time to watch a series on FTA these days. All 3 commercial channels have destroyed any trust in their ability to show a series consistently as far as times, channel and continuity.

  3. Surprising considering this is part of their ABC output but its not like it really ever did much for them. Hope 7 do get second run rights at some point

  4. So three things – 2 good and 1 bad. Firstly, I’m overjoyed to see Foxtel pick up more hit series, airing them in good, consistent time slots in HD. Secondly, I’m hoping this is a sign that FOX8 will also pick up the Aussie premiere of Agent Carter. Lastly, what is the point of having Syfy if Foxtel are going to keep buying all the good sci-fi series for their own channels? Grimm, Flash, Arrow, Super Girl, SHIELD, Bitten, Messengers, Helix, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, and the list goes on…

      1. Granted not all those I have listed are A-grade but were the first ones I thought of off the top of my head. Other (not necessarily all good 😛 ) sci-fi series picked up by Foxtel for its channels include: Under the Dome, Sleepy Hollow, The 100, Atlantis, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries, Falling Skies, and Nikita (I’m sure there are more but again, off the top of my head). If Foxtel aren’t going to let their networks be competitive then why bother having them – just monopolise the entire Australian STV field (it may sound drastic but given they have already done it to the movie channels, the majority of the music channels, and 62% of the entertainment channels it isn’t that far off from being reality).

  5. FTV really are creating competition for themselves now, actual programming moving to subscription tv going against reality tv in which people are getting sick off.

  6. Will there be a time soon where FTA networks don’t pick up first rights to any US dramas? Especially when you can play cat videos and get 3 times the audience of quality drama.

    1. Nine is already there.

Seven renegotiated their NBC deal recently and are throwing stuff on in October to see what sticks, rather than onselling it to Foxtel as they did with Chicago Fire, PD etc.

But I wouldn’t be betting on the ABC or Ten’s CBS deals to be renewed.
