Seven will fast-track upcoming US thriller Blindspot featuring Aussie Sullivan Stapleton, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Jaimie Alexander.

Blindspot centres on hardened FBI agent, Kurt Weller (Stapleton), who is drawn into a complex conspiracy when a naked, amnesiac Jane Doe (Alexander) is found in Times Square covered in a series of cryptic tattoos… including his name on her back.

As Weller and his teammates at the FBI – among them, Assistant Director Mayfair (Jean-Baptiste) – begin to investigate the veritable treasure map that are Jane Doe’s tattoos, they are drawn into a high-stakes underworld that twists and turns through a labyrinth of secrets and revelations. The information they uncover might ultimately change the world.

With every passing day, Jane unveils a new skill or a hidden talent without understanding its origin, while Weller is drawn deeper into his troubled, complicated relationship with this enigmatic woman. They both strive to make a connection, unaware of the dangerous blindspot that threatens them.

Blindspot will join previously-announced fast-tracked new series Heroes Reborn, The Player and Quantico.

Seven also confirmed The Blacklist, How To Get Away With Murder and Grey’s Anatomy will also launch this year, “soon after the US.”

  1. There is still a couple of weeks before greys anatomy airs in the US and we all know schedules can change anytime, so until I see greys anatomy actually air within a timely fashion of the US air date then I won’t believe this is happening.

  2. Good to hear the fast-tracking of Grey’s Anatomy, How To Get Away with Murder and The Blacklist!

I always give new shows a go too from all networks. Will be interested to see what they are like. Quantico looks great and i’ve always been a Heroes fan!

  3. I hope we’re all not thinking Seven will treat shows like How to Get Away, Blacklist, Downton and Agents of and Carter with any sort of decency. They’ll either be 10:30pm slots or burnt off in double episodes or even both.

  4. Fasttracking is a great way of restoring viewer faith. However unless Seven is willing to schedule these dramas with more respect, I doubt they will last much longer than any of the other dramas that have launched in recent years. Viewers don’t want to wait, they don’t want to be tricked into watching the last 20 minutes of X Factor or subjected to excessive ad breaks. I really hope I am proven wrong.

  5. You don’t launch important shows when daylight savings is starting and the audience drops 10-15%. Every show launched at this time has failed, the exception to the rule is S1a of Heroes which launched well but tanked soon after. They will likely rate even worse later, especially if they don’t get picked up.

Aquarius has already been bumped to late at night and burnt off with double eps. The Blacklist didn’t last more than one season before being bumped and burnt of in double eps, Blindspot is a copy with an even sillier premise taken from Memento/Prison Break. How To…s ratings collapsed in the middle of S1 once the gimmick of confusing flash forwards ended. Quantico is a copy of that with an even sillier premise. The Player just looks silly. None of them look likely to appeal to X Factor viewers.

DA has been bumped to Thursdays, but they don’t look like showing the final…

  6. Some great news there, and good on Seven for embracing fasttracking of US shows. I’m hoping Once Upon A Time and Scandal will join that list (but won’t hold my breath)!

      1. No they still haven’t shown season 4 yet. I was tired of waiting so watched it by other means. They clearly have no interest in it, they should onsell it to Ten or Foxtel.
