US horror-romance Beauty and the Beast, starring New Zealander Jay Ryan, will end with its fourth season.
The CW network confirmed the 2016 season, which also features Kristin Kreuk, will be its last.
While season one averaged 1.61 million US viewers, season three averaged 879,000 total viewers.
“I truly like it as a summer series,” CW president Mark Pedowitz said in August. “It gives us original programming. One of our stated goals for the network was to have year-round programming. We’re doing more and more of this, and having Beauty and the Beast gives us some scripted programming for summer. We are developing other things at this point for next summer. So I plan to keep it there.”
It airs in Australia on FOX8.
