“Just devastating” says Sam Frost, as Daily Mail vows to fight injunction.

Updated: "I was so upset, I could not stop crying," says Sam Frost. But Daily Mail says the injunction isn't "fair or right."

The Bachelorette‘s Sam Frost turned emotional last night when she discovered paparazzo photos had been published by Daily Mail Australia ahead of the season finale.

After months of keeping a secret, the long-lens shots taken at The Star ruined the outcome for fans and production.

“I was so upset, I could not stop crying,” she told 2DayFM’s Dan and Maz this morning.

“We worked so hard for such a long time,” she said.

“We were ten floors up, and someone’s obviously in another building. Someone’s tipped them off and it’s just devastating and the fans were furious.

“That’s how I found out because I went on my social media and everyone was like ‘I don’t even want to watch it, it’s ruined!’ And I was like, ‘What is going on?’

“We were devastated.”

Sasha Mielczarek added, “It was just devastating. Sam was really emotional. She was actually hysterical.”

But a spokesman for Daily Mail Australia said: “We were served with an injunction by Network TEN, but we have not had sight of the reasons for the judge’s decision.

“We swiftly abided by the terms of the injunction, however, but shall be challenging the terms of that injunction immediately as we do not consider that such a decision is either fair or right.”

The Nine-aligned website takes further aim at TEN for cutting costs with Sam Frost in a dress previously worn by a Bachelor contestant and even slapping last season’s Bachelor finale for shooting in Sydney and not an exotic location. Ouch.

But it will be hard to spoil TEN’s mood today with its best-ever numbers for the franchise at 1.52m viewers and officially announcing a second season.

TEN Chief Programming Officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “We are very pleased that so many Australians embraced The Bachelorette Australia and wanted to be part of Sam’s journey to find true love.

“The response from viewers to both the show and Sam’s story has been extraordinary. Like all Australians, we are delighted that Sam found Sasha and we wish them every happiness.

“We are also thrilled to announce that The Bachelorette Australia will be back in 2016. We cannot wait to start production on the second series and give Australia another wonderful love story,” she said.

Update: The injunction was lifted on Friday afternoon at the NSW Supreme Court as Daily Mail republishes its photos.

  1. Storm in a teacup. It had no effect on ratings. It wasn’t on the 10th floor it was on a lower floor and visible from the street. Ten were using the same hotel before, and they had camera crews and photographers shooting stuff and was easy to spot.

The exotic comment is because they have flown the competitors and crew to spectacular romantic locations, this year they haven’t to save money.

It’s not clear what laws the Daily Mail broke by buying the photos, and Ten dropped the injunction rather than fight on (since it didn’t matter once the ep aired.).

  2. Sydney is exotic….just ask people from overseas….my chat friends are always saying that…I dont see it….I live here… 🙂
They find it amazing that I have dozens of exotic birds in my back yard…and right up on balcony rail…hand feeding wild birds…(cockatoos and corellas)….also wild animals…Koalas….*G*

  3. “I could not stop crying” – really, I mean really…. and I thought people in the real world had worst problems. Talk about making mountain out of mole hill.

  4. You put your life on TV for people to see but when people find out things earlier then you want them too, you get upset … Why do reality TV people do this all the time, heck, why do celebrities do this all the time. Don’t want your life in the spotlight, don’t put it there to begin with.

    1. I think you’ve missed the point. She’s not upset about pap coverage/invasion. How about you try living a cloak and dagger lifestyle for a few months, and consider all the effort that would have gone into keeping it a secret, for it to be spoiled at the last minute.

      1. I can understand it would be emotionally taxing on someone but she (or Sasha, or both) slipped up and got caught.

Perhaps Ten next year need to make sure the couple isn’t together until the morning after, or only connect that night. Perhaps have the final two contestants in separate hotels that night, fly in the Batchelor(ette) and they couple can meet up the night the episode goes to air.

  5. I for one will now intentionally avoid their site. Can only be seen as malicious. Not sure it will, but they should lose goodwill over it. And for Nine, well they’ve been bitter ever since the Bach franchise has become a success.

  6. At the end of the day though Ten did very well; one of their best results for a long time. Other than Masterchef, when did Ten get 1.5 million viewers?

  7. Nothing was spoilt for me because I don’t go online during any reality show I watch. I go online the next day. Let that be a lesson for any viewer that watches a reality show: don’t go online when the show is on if you don’t want to see any spoilers. Simple as that.

      1. I think they do the same as me, I do a social media blackout when watching reality. only while the show is actually on TV. not for the entire series.

        1. I don’t know… Is this even an option? I mean, mum visits (I think) NineMSN and she’s always talking about some reality show article that’s on there… I wonder if it’s as easy as saying “No FB, Twitter, Instagram and other social media outlets until the show has finished”
