How do you follow all the romance of The Bachelor franchise?
With the telemovie Mary: The Making of a Princess, of course.
TEN’s promo describes this as “the story you don’t know.” Not sure what the source material but I suspect the Danish Crown isn’t a consultant.
No airdate has yet been announced.
It is the fairy tale of how a girl from Tasmania became European royalty and now TEN shares the exclusive first look at Mary: The Making of a Princess.
Based on true events, this world premiere television event will follow the romantic journey of Mary Donaldson, as she goes from Sydney pub to Danish palace.
After a chance meeting in Sydney, Mary’s courtship with Crown Prince Frederik Andre Henrik Christian of Denmark captured the hearts of Australians and the world in 2000.

Here’s the summary.
Location: The Slip Inn – Sydney, 2000 Olympics.
Mary is at the bar, getting Cosmos and Appletinis.
Fred slides quietly to the side of her. “My shout.”
Mary: “Nah, I’m right – thanks for offering.”
Fred: “No, no, I insist…”
*slides Black Amex onto counter.
Mary’s jaw drops: “O roooly? You’re definitely not from Tassie, are ya?”
Fred: “I’m Danish.” (flashes Rolex)
The rest is history.
Not the slant I was expecting.
My thoughts exactly! I’ll still watch and record it as I have a feeling I’ll be laughing too hard.
Oh dear…..*sigh*
