Netflix will be raising its monthly subscription price for new customers in the US, Canada and Latin America in November.
US pricing will increase from $8.99 to $9.99 for its standard package with two users.
This is the second time in 2 years prices have increased but $1 is unlikely to dissuade many from not continuing their subscription.
But there is no announcement of Australian prices rising, given the company has only recently launched its streaming service.
The company also offers a basic package for a single user at $7.99 and a family plan for four screens to watch simultaneously for $11.99, which remain unchanged.
“To continue adding more TV shows and movies including many Netflix original titles, we are modestly raising the price for some new members in the U.S., Canada, and Latin America,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “As a thank you to existing Netflix members—who aren’t already benefiting from a previous price guarantee —we will maintain their current price for a year.”
Australian pricing remains at $8.99 for a 1 screen in standard definition, $11.99 for 2 screens in High Definition or 4 screens including Ultra HD for $14.99
