Seven is hoping to get the jump with its next foodie series, Aussie Barbecue Heroes, premiering next week -before summer non-ratings season begins.
Already spinning it as “Summer’s hottest show” (before it has even premiered), it will debut on Wednesday November 18.
Summer’s hottest show, Aussie Barbecue Heroes, fires up on Wednesday, November 18 at 7.30pm. My Kitchen Rules’ favourite Texan Robert Murphy and barbecue expert Jess Pryles join host Ben O’Donoghue as they put nine teams to the test to find Australia’s Barbecue Hero. With over $100,000 worth of prizes ‘at steak’, which team will boil under the pressure?
“I am excited to be part of a team that will unearth some of Australia’s hottest barbecuing talent.
I can’t wait to see them fire up the burners,” said Ben. “This competition isn’t about throwing some snags on the grill; the contestants will need to display true culinary and creativity skills.”
It’s a thriller on the griller as teams will come together in the most Aussie of BBQ locations – a quintessential beachside Aussie caravan park, bursting with sun and surf.

With the price of meat now…especially beef….going through the roof…not sure how much appeal this will have….
Every time I hear Robert say in the promo ‘1,2, Barbeque’ it makes me laugh.
it’s no BBQ Pitmasters.
I’m still tipping this to be branded entertainment.
Will Nine program “Barbie Reno Rumble” up against it?
At least Seven are trying original programming in summer. Better than endless reruns of Criminal Minds or Big Bang Theory
Exciting viewing, people cooking meat on a BBQ.
Coming soon to Seven – ‘ Watching grass grow’
Nothing new there – Poh, Justine Schofield, Marion Grasby, etc.
