When does dead mean dead?

That’s a question many TV fans have been pondering in recent times thanks to Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead (the latter answered that question this week in relation to one of its key characters).

HBO has now issued a poster shot for Game of Thrones season 6 with none other than a bloodied face of Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

Adding to the fan speculation about his involvement, media are now divided over whether it is confirmation Snow is alive.

Just take a look at these various headlines:

Your favourite bastard is not dead

“I’ve been told I’m dead,” Harington said after the season five finale. “I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season.” And according to HBO’s president Michael Lombardo, Jon Snow is dead. “Dead is dead is dead is dead,” he told reporters. “He be dead…everything I’ve seen, heard or read, Jon Snow is dead.”

All will be resolved next April.

  1. It is no coincidence that Melisandre is at Castle Black at the point in time that Jon has been stabbed. The showrunners have only said that Jon definately dies. They haven’t said anything about a resurrection.
