US procedurals Chicago Fire and Chicago PD have both been renewed for the 2016-17 season.

Chicago Fire will return for its fifth season, while spinoff Chicago PD is back for its fourth season. A third series when spinoff Chicago Med debuts this month.

NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt made the announcement this week during a press junket in Chicago for all three shows.

Both shows air in Australia on Foxtel, with Seven also screening Chicago Fire on Free to Air.

Meanwhile, NBC is yet to determine the future of Wolf-produced Law & Order: SVU.

  1. Chicago PD , Love this show .
I missed watching Chicago Fire from the start and tried to give it ago watching it since I loved the PD so much but can’t fall in love with Chicago Fire .
Looking forward to catching Chicago Med from the start, haven’t watched a hospital tv series since ER which was also based on a Chicago hospital .
Shows like this, Orange is the new black , The Americans and ESPN makes having Foxtel worth it , otherwise I be drowning in the crap of reality tv on Free to air tv

  2. This week’s episode of Chicago PD didn’t make sense, until I realised it was part of a crossover episode, with the death of a character explained on another show (L&O), which I’d seen only the last few minutes of a few months ago, and hadn’t realised who’d died.

I had to go online to watch the two eps together so the storyline could make sense.

It’s so hard when you’re watching shows from one US network, broadcast on at least two networks in Australia, and they’re broadcast at different times of the year. Hard but not impossible.

At least it wasn’t like The Nanny crossover ep from a few years ago. 🙂
