This week The Feed investigates Crocodile safari hunting in the Northern Territory; Jan Fran explores Australia’s most screwed up cities and Marc Fennell interviews Pixar president Jim Morris and comedian Joel McHale.

Croc Safari
The Northern Territory Government grants permits to trap, shoot and remove around 500 crocodiles per year. Some of these are problem crocs, the rest are deemed wild harvest. In a new proposal, the NT Government and Safari hunting operators are hoping to sell the license to shoot Australia’s largest apex predator for anywhere up to $15,000. Government officials and crocodile experts claim Safari hunting dollars breed conservation and opportunities for indigenous communities, whilst many others see it as a senseless attack on our native fauna.

Screwed Up Cities
Our cities are screwed! This is the unofficial finding from a number of reports that suggest if Australia doesn’t invest in urban infrastructure, we simply won’t be able to handle the increasing population demand on our cities. Yes, our cities are always in The Economist’s ‘top ten most liveable cities’ list – but it turns out that doesn’t really mean all that much. So that’s the bad news! The good news is we can fix it, and the even better news is that we have, for the first time ever, a Federal minister who can bring it (or should we say Briggs it) all together. So what exactly is the problem with our cities and how do we fix them? We sent The Feed’s Jan Fran to find much smarter people than herself to answer these questions.

The Pixar President
Jim Morris has been instrumental in crafting the childhood of generations. He is the President of Pixar Animation Studios responsible for bringing us hits like Toy Story, Inside Out, Cars, Wall-E and before that, he was in charge of the effects on movies like Jurassic Park and Terminator 2. But it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Pixar’s new film The Good Dinosaur shut down production midway and was completely restarted. What goes into turning around the massive ship that is a Pixar movie? What does it feel like when a movie with a reputed $600 million budget like John Carter flops? How does he react? He opens up to Marc Fennell about Pixar’s unique and sometimes brutal way of movie-making.

All Hail Joel McHale
Joel McHale is known to most people as Jeff Winger in the inventive and offbeat comedy series Community. In this candid interview, he sits down with Marc Fennell to talk about his success in satirising pop culture on E!’s The Soup, and how being snarky and sarcastic helped him succeed in Hollywood.
