Johnny Ruffo in court over driving charges

Home and Away actor Johnny Ruffo faced court yesterday over a string of driving offences and asked for an annulment on five driving charges that he was sentenced for in his absence last month.

They include charges of driving with a cancelled licence, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and follow 16 earlier speeding offences, including seven accrued while his licence was suspended due to fine defaults.

He failed to appear in court on November 12 because he was sick.

In March he was placed on a six-month good behaviour bond for driving while his licence was cancelled in an unregistered, uninsured car.

Ruffo did not enter a plea to the fresh driving charges.

Magistrate Gary Wilson revoked a warrant and annulled last month’s conviction.

The case was adjourned until January 20 for plea.

Ruffo recently completed a six-month good behaviour bond for traffic offences. Court documents also revealed he earns $2000 a week on the Seven soap.
