Seven’s news and current affairs boss Craig McPherson has poached Nine producer David Eccleston back to the network to oversee Weekend Sunrise from Monday.
Eccleston, a former Seven reporter, has been co-exec producer on The Verdict. McPherson, the former Today Tonight EP, was himself most recently at Nine before being lured back to the network last year.
News Corp reports McPherson is also looking at promoting Sarah Stinson to Director of Morning TV (a title Adam Boland once owned).
Stinson, who is EP of both The Morning Show and Daily Edition is a longtime colleague of McPherson during their Today Tonight days.
There’s still no word on whether Today Tonight will be rebooted on the East Coast following Seven’s failure to secure Karl Stefanovic.
But clearly the next news war, which Nine is leading, is only just getting started. Let the games begin!

Seven have to do something to try
drag their spiraling share price up!
“Co-executive Producer of The Verdict”.
Now there’s a title to proudly put at the top of your CV.
Lots of behind the scenes changes happening but viewers are yet to see any on screen changes to either presenters or the format of 7 news – hopefully this might change when the Austtalian Open starts.
