#BringTheLogiesToDubbo

Regional NSW gets excited about a cheeky idea to become the new destination for TV's night of nights.

2016-02-09_1645It just wouldn’t be the Logies without a bit of inane fun….

A social media campaign to move the Logie Awards to Dubbo may not attract the enthusiasm of TV Week or Bauer Media, but in Dubbo they are positively gagging for it.

After a report that Sydney was looking to swoop on the annual awards showbiz commentator Peter Ford joked on Twitter that “It all comes down to costs & underwriting. They’d be at Dubbo RSL if they put up the money.”

It wasn’t long before Dubbo RSL responded, proudly declaring it was ready for the national spotlight.

“The Dubbo RSL is the biggest of it’s kind, west of the mountains – we’re up to the challenge!”

Others soon began hopping on the bandwagon.

“The Dubbo bid is confidential! Peter – you may have just jeopardised our bid…” said Dubbo Mayor Mathew Dickerson.

TV Historian Andrew Mercado suggested a Dubbo Logies Train to transport celebrity guests and an after-party at the Dubbo Zoo.

Chris and Juelz at 93.5 StarFM Dubbo soon joined the campaign, suggesting a swag bag of Reading Cinema movie tickets, passes to the Old Dubbo Jail, accommodation at Taronga Western Plains Zoo and a bike tour of Dubbo.

“Rhonda Burchmore is on board, Larry Emdur said ‘definitely’, Ben Fordham said ‘I’ll even do my radio show from there,'” Ford told them.

“Bert said he would definitely come to Dubbo if it was done and present the Gold Logie.”

TV Week is yet to comment.
