I’m A Celebrity’s sloppy editing -get us out of here.

A secret task to swipe Shane Warne's dictaphone was all a bit of smoke and mirrors and editing.

It was presented as a secret task on Sunday night’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here, but the edited vision may have been a bit of sneaky tactics at worst -or just very poor storytelling at best…

Havana Brown and Dean Geyer were tasked with stealing Shane Warne’s Dictaphone to create a secret audio track using the sounds of their fellow contestants without them realising it. If they succeeded, more food would be on the way.

It was shown in close-up here nestled between some clothing:

The TEN series told us Havana Brown would distract Warnie while Geyer swooped on the Dictaphone.

According to the vision, while Warnie watched the blonde Havana Brown brushing her hair, Geyer managed to nick the Dictaphone.

But the vision clearly shows Warne and Anthony Callea had already moved on from their position of sitting on the couch. He pilfered it some time later.

The notion that Warne was distracted by Brown seems misleading, albeit a fairly harmless edit.

Geyer also picked up the black Dictaphone (which we see more clearly later when used by Brown) not the silver item shown in close-up earlier -that’s actually still in view amid clothing when he grabs the black Dictaphone. So why the first close-up of something else entirely?

Thankfully none of this “creative” storytelling led to any serious repercussions such as impacting on someone’s character or elimination chances.

But somebody needs their backside kicked for editing this together and someone else for approving it.

Social media users were already criticising Sunday’s lame challenge with disinterested crocodiles and the show fell to fourth place in the ratings.

TEN is determined that camp drama be “authentic” this year.

But this is Reality TV…..is it ever?

Video of Secret Task begins 33:30 mins.

Thanks to an eagle-eyed reader for spotting this one!

  1. I’m really disappointed too! Apparently ITV Australia are the production company responsible for making it. the Executive producer slid across from Big Brother.

Have to say its the blind leading the blind down entertainment valley. Channel Ten are like the kind uncle that keeps the money flowing, but are probably just as disappointed as we are, especially when you look at the poor ratings.

The executive producer had big brother canceled (Alex Mavroidakis) because that too was complete rubbish, ITV Australia don’t make anything other than this total mess. Home and away is beating it in the rating!

I think this show would be better on suited on the kids channel Nickelodeon. Why does Ten employ the same show killers to ruin yet another format.

Take it off the air! its rubbish.

  2. I believe that challenge on Sunday was sabotage by the producers so they would have hardly any food over the weekend. Wouldn’t surprise me if those crocs we fed before that challenge. Look at the conflict having no food has caused.

    1. Ruzie,
not so sure it was sabotage i just think a game not well executed or edited for drama. After all this Warnie thing was about giving them tons of food at the end which i believe was to probably avoid mutiny!. Regardless poor storyline. poor editing. Really poor execution.
Hope it gets better lots of people working huge hours there i am sure.

  3. Yes it was pretty obvious that they were two different dicta phones. Thought they would get away with it, but no! Very unprofessional. Generally, Big Brother in the jungle that would be a disaster without Julia Morris.

i think the problem is its not BB in the jungle in style but they are maybe treating it like it is. Hasn’t the EP been on BB?
IACGMOH, in other versions i have seen bits of, seem to have much better drama in edits much more power to mess with talent than BB.But they don’t have Julia 🙂 good or bad depends on your view

  4. Really disappointed this year, I want the challenges to be great but sitting on an enclosed boat feeding crocs and putting neck ties around ostrage heads is pretty lame. It has so much potential, Shane Warne is great, not sure about the Irwins they might have been better going in near the end when there was nothing left to see.
