"I have a lot of other really exciting projects lined up instead," says Maisie Williams.

Despite critical acclaim for her performance as Ashildr in Doctor Who, Maisie Williams has confirmed that’s it.

“I’m not going to be working on Doctor Who again,” she said.

“Everyone’s hyping about it, which is very exciting, but I guess that’s more of a publicity thing. But no, I’m not going to return, I have a lot of other really exciting projects lined up instead.”

There had been some speculation she might replace Jenna Coleman as the next companion but that had already been ruled out.

Williams will return to Game of Thrones as Arya Stark in April.

  1. I thought there was at least one episode left. They never did answer what the pages of her diary were that Ashildr/Me ripped out, the stuff she wanted to forget. I actually thought last season was one of the best, it was a little more morbid and I liked the fact that the doctor never succeeded. Ususally at the end he makes everything right but this season he would only half win and there would some horrible loss or failure. I thought it made it much more interesting than the previous seasons. I reckon Moffat went out on high.

  2. I found the recent season of Dr Who rather dull. It was like a lot of filler to drag out getting to Gallifrey until the end of the season … dumb move! I never liked Maisie’s character (and I can’t stand Game Of Thrones). However, “a lot of really exciting projects lined up” could mean her and Clara in the new Who spin-off set in Coal Hill School??? 😉 Also, I’m please Moffat is moving on … that is overdue.

  3. I felt like Maisie was half the advertising campaign for last season of DW, as if they desperately needed to use her as a marketing gimmick.

Which of course did work, she is amazing in Game of Thrones and in my opinion she easily was the best part about last season of Doctor Who, I think she is however wise to keep moving forward onto other things.

The last season of Doctor Who really felt, well hugely disappointing. Not just even in the normal depart of their awful CGI effects, but I felt a lot of the acting seemed wooden and the storylines themselves didn’t do much for me.

I think her talents are best suited to be elsewhere, good luck to her.

  4. No logical reason to think she would be back. Ashildr had lived till the end of time, Clara was dead. Moffat just sent them off for one last adventure. There’s no eps for a while and Moffat is leaving anyway.

Speculation based on speculation social media is just what the media does these days, its easy.
