Eddie McGuire’s son, Xander, makes his debut in Neighbours tomorrow night.

He plays Charlie Hoyland, the eldest and estranged son of Steph Scully (Carla Bonner). Charlie will arrive in Erinsborough unannounced, leaving Steph overcome with emotion as she faces her son for the first time in years.

TEN Drama Executive, Claire Tonkin, said: “Neighbours has a remarkable track record for spotting new talent. We are thrilled to welcome Xander as the newest member of the Neighbours family.”

Executive Producer, Jason Herbison, said: “We are absolutely thrilled with Xander’s performance and it’s just the beginning of a really interesting journey for the character of Charlie Hoyland.”

Xander said: “I have enjoyed every aspect of my time on Neighbours so far. It was a bit nerve-wracking going to work for the first time and having to lift to the level of such experienced performers but the cast, directors and crew couldn’t have been more supportive. That makes things so much more fun. Some of the cameramen and crew used to work with my dad when he first started in television as a teenager so they’ve seen it all.”

Eddie McGuire said: “It’s a very exciting time for us all. Neighbours has been such an institution both locally and internationally. We wish Xander all the best in this opportunity to begin his working life with such wonderful and talented people as the Neighbours cast and crew.”

Monday, 8 February at 6.30pm on ELEVEN.
