Seven wins first week of ratings year

Ratings: Local content rules as Seven secures a convincing win over the competition.

Seven has won the first week of the ratings year with an impressive margin of nearly 6% over Nine.

Seven’s local content including My Kitchen Rules, Molly and Wanted have helped to a 32.2% share over Nine’s 26.5%. But Nine’s debut of Here Comes the Habib!  also enjoyed a great launch.

Another battle is set to play out between ABC and TEN with the public broadcaster securing third place, buoyed by more locally scripted content from The Doctor Blake Mysteries.

ABC: Doc Martin (1.00m), The Doctor Blake Mysteries (922,000), ABC News (Sun: 877,000) and Death in Paradise (861,000)

TEN: I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (Thurs: 794,000), The X-Files (571,000), The Project (7pm: 550,000) and Family Feud (Simulcast: 517,000).

Seven led in key demos 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Seven won Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Nine took Thursday and Saturday. ABC bettered TEN on Sunday, Monday, Friday and Saturday.

Seven ranked first in all 5 metro cities.
