Updated: US ratings for the NFL SuperBowl hit 111.9m viewers for CBS, the third highest figure in history.
It was down on 2015’s record of 114.4m.
Nielsen estimates that an average audience of 111.9 million were watching throughout the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers, peaking with 115.5 million from 8:30-9 p.m. ET for the halftime show. The only telecasts to draw a larger audience were last year’s Super Bowl between New England and Seattle on NBC (114.4 million) and the 2014 matchup between Seattle and Denver on Fox (112.2 million).

Watching the SuperBowl always reminds me of how pathetic AFL’s pre match “entertainment” is. Whilst the NFL put alot of money and effort into it, the AFL (considering the former is a bigger league and bigger market) still manage to serve up crap. The AFL must transition its showpeace event into a Night timeslot and invest money into decent entertainment during pre game or halftime.
Interesting to note that superbowl rotates between CBS, FOX and NBC every year and reading on the combined total of broadcast rights I can see why.
Still cannot get my head around the game reminds me when there is a commercial on the AFL/NRL to pop out and make a cup of coffee and visit the toilet
