NBCUniversal International has revealed the Australian launch date for its reality-skewed SVOD service hayu.

“We’re excited to be unveiling 22 March as the launch date for hayu in Australia,” confirmed NBCUniversal’s Jay McNamara, EVP strategy development and analysis.

“With over 3,000 episodes of the top reality TV shows – including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives and Top Chef franchises and Made in Chelsea – this SVOD service is the first of its kind. Curated by reality experts for reality fans, hayu is fully integrated with news feeds and social media and, uniquely, its next-generation functionality will enable Australian fans to share some of the content they love.”

So will hayu offer first-run content simultaneously with Foxtel screenings, or draw upon archival episodes? A hayu website states “The latest reality shows, same day as the U.S.”

The service comes with a monthly subscription just $5.99 and no contract, drawing upon over 3,000 episodes of its content.
