Rowan Atkinson plays it straight as French detective, Jules Maigret.

ITV has released a trailer featuring Rowan Atkinson as French detective Jules Maigret.

He can be seen in the first of two telemovies, Maigret Sets A Trap.

Set in the 1950’s in Paris, it will be followed by Maigret’s Dead Man.

Maigret Sets A Trap also features Fiona Shaw, Aiden McCardle, Lucy Cohu, Leo Starr, Rufus Wright, Hugh Simon, David Dawson, Colin Mace and Rebecca Night.

Maigret is written by Stewart Harcourt (Love & Marriage, Treasure Island, Marple).

No broadcaster has yet been announced for Australia.

  1. I thought that Michael Gambon fitted the role of Maigret very well. Interesting to see how Rowan adapts to the character. BTW after watching the above trailer, YouTube then offered a selection of Michael’s episodes in their entirety.

  2. Trailer looks good….I loved the old Maigret TV series..and Rowan Atkinson is an excellent actor…he seems to fit this part well….I am quite sure I will purchase the series when it is released.
