SBS has renewed RocKwiz for a 14th season.

TV Tonight can reveal the series will be back for 7 episodes of RocKwiz Salutes The Legends, which pay tribute to the legends of seven geographical locations:

Europe (with a Eurovision leaning)
U.S.A.
U.K.
Ireland
Canada
New Zealand
Australia

Sources advise the series will be back on Saturdays in early May, kicking off with the Europe episode ahead of Eurovision weekend on SBS.

Julia Zemiro is currently appearing on Home Delivery Wednesday nights on ABC.

  1. Great news. Love this show. Love Julia. And beginning in May means we will have a good show to watch through the cold winter months. I still have last years 60s episode on my pvr, it was so good I can’t bring myself to delete it.

  2. Re: Julia Zemiro on both ABC and SBS: It is a little unusual to be a notable broadcaster on two channels simultaneously, although not unique. I suspect she has simply negotiated contracted non-exclusive contracts that mean to some extent she can pick and choose the projects that interest her the most. It may be there is an implicit or explicit agreement between the two public broadcasters that they won’t schedule Julia’s programs against each other, although clearly that wouldn’t really be in anyone’s interest to do so.
I would also imagine that SBS and ABC take a more ‘mature’ or long-term perspective when it comes to working with great talent, which is hard to find, and also that commercial imperatives are also less significant factors at play in comparison to the commercial networks.

    1. When Julia did What A Year with Bert Newton on Channel 9, she said in an interview that in any talks on other shows she makes it a stipulation that she still able to do RocKwiz. There was a clash once with Eurovision though when Tex Perkins and then David McCormack hosted it.

      1. Also how Brian Nankervis was able to do Pictures Of You on Channel 7 and RocKwiz on SBS (wish Pictures Of You would get resurrected, was a good interview show).
