Seven has re-thunk its programming plans for Grey’s Anatomy which premieres at 8:30pm Monday on 7flix.

Now it will replay the episode on the same night on its primary channel.

The move appears to be in response to soft numbers for the new multichannel and / or complaints by those who cannot access the channel in regional areas or via Foxtel.

“The Sound of Silence”
In the brutal and bold mid-season premiere (directed by Denzel Washington in his television directorial debut), Meredith is brutally attacked by a patient and the doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial rush to save her. The harrowing aftermath results in a powerhouse episode for Ellen Pompeo. Must-see episode!!

11pm Monday on Seven.

  1. and i thought they were trying to stop piracy. Heaps of people including me cannot access 7flix and I am not about to go and buy new TV or set topbox or recorder or whatever so I can watch yet another tv station.

    1. No, they expect the Government to solve their problems with viewers downloading Torrent files rather than managing their schedules to make viewers happy. TV network execs do not care what the viewers say, they schedule programs according to profits, not what the fans want to see. They won’t pay the big bucks to fast track these US shows to maximise the best ratings possible. Grey’s Anatomy still does very well in the US, and could do well here if the network would get a clue, yet we are six episode behind here. It really frustrates me TV execs want laws where peeps can be sued for downloading, yet they are doing very little to deter downloaders. Blocking the sites does not work given many internet users have found ways around these blocks (i.e. The UK, and parts of Europe. I just wish TV execs would get a clue and find strategies to deter viewers from downloading in the first place.

  2. I think they should do the same for other lower rated shows from Seven. Goldbergs gets no love on 7 and are way behind on it, gets played 9:30 onwards. they played it over summer and hasn’t returned with new eps. if they played it on 7flix at 7:30 or 8:00 they could replay it the same night but much later. It’s Always Sunny too, that should go to 7mate first earlier and again after midnight on 7 like normal. if Mindy Project can move from 11pm or later on 7 and be played on 7flix at 7:30 so can any other show or comedy.

I originally thought some M rated shows like Grey’s, Scandal and HTGAWM were gonna be played at 7:30 since classification guidelines allowed them to be played earlier now. I thought that cause of them advertising ‘Movies every night at 8:30’. I think though Sunday’s would have been better for Grey’s, Scandal and HTGAWM. Monday seems out of place.

  3. Numbers are low for 7Flix also because it is poorly programmed – how ridiculous that during MKR which finishes at 9, they promote a movie “next” on 7flix starting at 8.30?

  4. While this is great news for Grey’s fans that can’t access 7Flix it doesn’t help How to Get Away with Murder fans. At least Scandal fans have the presto option.

  5. Wasn’t the plan for 7Flix to show a movie every night at 8.30pm. So now they will show Grey’s instead followed by a rerun on the primary channel? Defeats the purpose of both a digital channel and the scope for the 7Flix schedule.

    1. Dare I suggest they were probably running out of movies pretty quick!? There’s only a finite amount of popular films Seven have the rights to, and they already run a midday movie daily on their primary channel, movies on Friday and Saturday nights in non-AFL states, and regular films on both 7Two and 7mate. I don’t think the 8:30pm film thing was sustainable unless Seven signed some new output deals.

  6. Showing low rating shows on the main channel, at ungodly hours, defeats the purpose of having “digital” channels. If 7Flix is considered “inaccessible” what about 7Two or 7Mate?

  7. It’s not just regional and Foxtel customers who can’t get it. Older MPEG2 equipment won’t receive it at all and some MPEG4 equipment (including some from major manufacturers only a couple years old) have sound and vision problems. Seven is using some non-common elements of MPEG4 and devices may need software or firmware upgrades to receive it. People not being able to watch the channel is part of the reason the numbers are so low.

It makes sense for Seven to repeat GA in on the main channel in late night slot until this is resolved.

    1. Bingo. Not to mention the bit rate. Even the prime channels are suffering. Seven once had the best picture IMO, now they are all low bit rate and pixelated looking like old VCD’s! You Tube looks better.

Nine HD and TEN HD are now 1920 x 1080i but the bit rate is so low they look like SD. What’s the point of going to “Full HD” cough, when the bit rate is so low the picture looks soft. No definition.

Come on networks up the bit rate!

  8. I’m glad there’s to be a replay on Seven. I felt sorry for all those fans who’d watched the show for 11 years only to have it suddenly shoved onto an inaccessible channel.

  9. They’ve been doing similar with The Amazing Race, which airs on 7flix Thursday nights and late on Seven Saturday nights (at least here in Sydney, maybe AFL states are different).
