Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac takes aim at Today’s Stevie Jacobs

Nine's Stevie Jacobs becomes target practice for Seven's new weather kid on the block.

It’s tough out there in breakfast TV-land.

So much so that one new weatherman is taking direct aim at his counterpart from a rival show.

This morning new Sunrise recruit Sam Mac was joined by Liverpool City Archers for his Live cross, but after his first attempt at target practice didn’t go too well, he decided to make it personal.

“I’ve spoken to the team here, what you need is more of a focus: have a direct spot that you are really aiming hard for,” he explained.

“So, I have made a bit of a tweak to my target. If you want to look right now, basically, my new arch-rival, my nemesis, my fellow weatherman is – it’s the great Stevie Jacobs.”

With that a photo of Today‘s Stevie Jacobs was dead centre as target practice.

“Obviously he has been in the game for ten years ….. I’m about to take him on to see if the new kid on the block can match it with the master. So here we go. Can I get some crowd support?”

Time ran out before he could land a punch.

Or an arrow.

  1. Kochie and Sam did not look impressed when they cut back to them. It wasn’t funny. I liked Sam Mac when he first started doing the weather but am now over him. Just too in ya face now.

  2. He jokes about his supposed rivalry with Steve Jacobs all the time. Just a bit of fun people as Sam Mac doesn’t have a malice bone in his body. I’m really enjoying his work on Sunrise.

      1. Probably should’ve clarified that my comment was directed at the previous responses not a criticism of your piece David. People seem to be using this to put down Sam Mac and Sunrise instead of taking it in jest.

  3. Sam Mac weatherman a few weeks, Stevie Jacobs 10 years; Eddie entertainment reporter a few weeks, Richard Wilkins 21 years as Entertainment Editor.

That is why I watch Today.

  4. Hey Sam Mac… I think you better stick to radio mate! sunrise??? should be called sunset!
Its no wonder Today and the ABC Breaky show is doing well…

  5. I guess it was his attempt to go from “comedian” to actual comedian. Not going to happen. I’ve noticed more early evening promotion for Sunrise in the past week. Get rid of Sam Mac, bring in Nuala, bring back Nelson Aspen and stop cheap stunts, sketches and make some set adjustments, the new one doesn’t work, although still better than the Today set.
