New US virus drama Containment has been killed off.

The thriller about an epidemic that breaks out in Atlanta and leaving a large part of the city quarantined, averaged 1.8 million US viewers.

While it was sometimes billed as a limited series, like Under the Dome and Wayward Pines it was ready for more if the show were a success.

It screens in Australia on Stan.
