Warning: Spoilers.
Living legend Barbara Windsor is due to depart EastEnders for the last time.
The 78 year old first joined the cast as Peggy in 1994 and left in 2010. But she returned for three episodes between 2013 and 2015.
Now Peggy will pass away following a battle with cancer. Windsor has said it was her decision to depart, saying that while the character was alive she would effectively have no closure with the role.
“It’s such a special week and there’s lots of surprises. The episodes are something fans won’t want to miss. They did me proud. It’s a perfect ending for Peggy,” she said.
Of the scenes with her on-screen son Phil (Steve McFadden) she added, “There are some beautiful moments between them. We were very lucky to get to film them.”
Her episodes air in the UK next week.
EastEnders screens in Australia on UKTV.
