“Flat” Eddie takes time out from Thursday Night Football

Eddie McGuire will take tonight off from FOX Footy broadcast commitments following a week of headlines and apologies.

“The events of the week have emotionally and physically flattened me,” he told Fairfax Media.

“I don’t think I’d be able to perform to the level that people would want to see on Thursday Night Footy.”

McGuire will also be off the radio airwaves from Monday for three weeks, taking an annual holiday during the non-ratings period.

FOX Footy presenter Sarah Jones will replace McGuire for Thursday night’s pre-game coverage, making her debut in that role.
