Queensland twin brothers Luke & Cody will face off against Victorian couple Claire & Hagan in the House Rules grand final next Sunday.

A second Victorian team Fil & Joe was eliminated last night in a charity renovation challenge.

Working to three specific design briefs, including Manhattan Apartment, Scandi Chic and Balinese Resort, teams renovated for the Leukaemia Foundation

The final scores were:

Luke & Cody Qld 17
Claire & Hagan Vic 15
Fil & Joe Vic 13

“Your garden was sublime,”  judge Joe Snell said of Luke and Cody. “It was so welcoming and that pergola was the perfect place for a relaxing cup of tea. You truly created a home away from home.”

Claire and Hagan’s Scandi Chic drew praise for their playground area. “The kids play space was a fabulous collection of really great ideas that worked together perfectly,” said judge Wendy Moore. “You have built the foundation for many happy memories in a house that really needs them.”

But husband-and-wife team Fil and Joe lost points for their DIY Balinese resort reno.

“I’m not only proud of what we’ve done because it was really hard, but I’m proud of Joe,” Fil said.

A Grand Final featuring a Live component on Sunday will award one team their mortgage paid off.

“We never thought we would make it through the first round let alone get this far in the competition,” said Luke.

7.00 pm on Sunday, July 3.

  1. I really hope the boys win. Claire and Hagan’s attitude has been crappy all the way through. Deciding to compromise the outcome of designs by keeping an idea to themselves only served to hurt the Lukemia Foundation – and Hagan had the hide to say how much it meant to him. They could have shared the idea and won on decoration and use of colour. It would have been a win for the Lukemia foundation above all.

The boys have been sincere, helpful, friendly and genuine. Only one team deserves to win this competition. Go Luke and Cody!!! You are awesome!!

  2. In a real twist, it looks like the most deserving team will win a competition show. The twins have been by far the most consistent team (of all), and done it with good humour and integrity. They are gold for the producers, and the main reason HR is now out-rating the other channels.
