UPDATE: Nine, Southern Cross, TEN, WIN: affiliate changes

As expected, WIN Network has now confirmed regional local news bulletin, WIN News, will air each weeknight at 6pm timeslot, with Family Feud remaining on ELEVEN and ONE.

The change from Friday July 1 takes effect in Queensland, southern NSW, Victoria and the ACT, as part of the network’s affiliate deal with TEN.

WIN’s CEO Andrew Lancaster said, “Our 30 minute regional local news bulletins will take their place at 6pm on our primary WIN channel, giving our viewers one of the most comprehensive evening news and current affairs line-ups in the country.

“The regional local bulletins will follow the one-hour TEN Eyewitness News, first-at-five, national bulletin and will lead into the Logie Award-winning news and current affairs panel show, The Project at 6.30pm.

“The WIN Network has always been committed to producing strong regional local news coverage and our position in this line-up reinforces the importance we place on keeping our viewers informed at both local and national levels.”

One hour regional news bulletin, All Australian News, which screens at midday and midnight, will continue on WIN.

“Our new partnership with TEN is a great opportunity for us to revisit how we deliver our bulletins to our regional viewers to ensure we are giving them the best news coverage possible,” Lancaster said.

“Add to that a slew of strong-performing shows and a network whose performance is growing and it bodes well for exciting times ahead.”

With the Federal election on Saturday, July 2, WIN News will have its reporters in the field in each of its 16 local news markets and will provide comprehensive coverage leading up to election day followed by each electorate’s results in WIN News’ Monday night bulletins on July 4.

The WIN Network’s new program supply from Network TEN commences on July 1, 2016. Viewers will not need to rescan their television to access the new programming on WIN.

  1. So with all this going on, let me see if I have got things correct in my mind. Win the main channel will be screening TEN shows and ONE and ELEVEN shows on the other channels. Which means that if you have your PVR set to record Neighbours, you will have to change the channel that it is recorded on as TDT who have 5, 50 and 55 will most probably screen Nine programmes, which means that 8 and so on will be the TEN suite of programmes.
I had incorrect information about WIN staying with Nine, my apologies.

    1. WIN will stay as 8 & 80-89 but with Ten’s suite of channels (Ten/One/Eleven). I imagine Gold stays with WIN (like we haven’t deleted it!).
TDT will stay 5 & 50-59 but with Nine programming.
      Exact channel numbers are TBA.
      Its a strange set up!

  2. Re Tasmania – This story is about WIN Local News moving from 7pm to 6pm. It doesn’t mention Tasmania because WIN Tas News is already at 6pm, ‘though it will probably drop back to 30 mins to fit into the 6-6:30pm slot. “regional local news bulletin”- not a world/national/local bulletin like Tasmania!

    1. From what I’m hearing WIN’s channel 80 will stay HD. They are saying as much in promos. I guess that means B & B will go there. I can’t see WIN putting it on GEM or GO!

          1. So I’m wondering where 9Life goes in the regions? When Nine programs move to Southern Cross here they have 5, 50 and 55 at their disposal. These will become Nine, GEM and GO! I imagine. No room for 9Life or will Southern Cross open up a new channel?

  3. Win should switch whatever is on at 630 on one and put on at 6 and then Family Feud at 630 so people who want to watch news can also have an option of watching the Feud as well – if not inclined to record. Also read Southen Cross looking at play out of hour long nine news from Canberra with regional inserts. The other comment about putting All Australia news in morning very valid .. Win has had Breakfast show for as long as nine has had a today so massive loss but obviously Today will still play in some Win markets. Maybe Susie Eleman could make a comeback to Win

  4. All Australian News needs to be rebranded as just “WIN Morning News” and moved to 7am, with a back to back replay at 8am.

Add a ticker, a weather flipper and some live updates – and WIN has a morning show to compete with Sunrise and Today essentially for no increased budget.

I’m sure WIN can sell that to advertisers in its markets more than Bold & beautiful repeats at 7am

    That way WIN

      1. A great idea. I would rather watch what’s been happening around the country than what’s been happening with the Kardashians. This was done way, way back (early 80s) when WIN took Good Morning Aust. 7-9am from TEN. One journalist/reader, one camera/FM, one audio op, one Prog. Co-Ord/Director (most of whom were on the station from 7am anyway), with drop-in local news windows. Things do happen and field reports do arrive too late for 6pm.

  5. Apparently WIN in Tasmania will still be screening Nine Programmes after the 1st of July. TDT will be keeping its Channel TEN shows and Southern Cross the Seven suite of programming.

      1. It’s true. They had one on last night and I thought my dad had changed the channel to watch Masterchef, since all of a sudden a snippet offspring ad was playing along with snippets from Masterchef, family feud and shark tank were playing. Then I discovered that it was still win since the news was on. But askme is right it hasn’t actually been confirmed. And nothing has been stated in the papers.

        1. The Ten and WIN agreement named Tasmania as being part of the deal. I’ve made the assumption that Nine will move to what is currently Tasmanian Digital Television (TDT).

    1. I don’t think it was ever actually confirmed anywhere whether anything was changing in Tasmania or not. Someone correct me if i’m wrong.

    2. My understanding is that WIN is intending to change to Ten in Tasmania but there seems to be some issue with regards to locking in Nine for what is currently TDT (which is owned by WIN/SCA).

  6. I am confused. (That;s nothing new!), For example on the Sunshine Coast I can watch the NRL on 8,80 or 81. Where do I watch it from July 1 as these are/were WINs channels? Does Nine take them over?
The more I turn this over in my head the more confused I am. A complete list of July 1 channel arrangements would be great.

    1. 8, 80, 81, 82 etc. will run TEN programs, on WIN
      5, 50, 51, 52 etc. will run Nine programs.
Nine doesn’t ” take over” anything.
The NRL from 1st July, being a Nine program, will be on 5.
” as these are/were WINs channels”. They are WIN’s channels. WIN’s channels will be running Network TEN programs.

  7. Is there any chance whether parts of SA and WA would see WIN News at Noon? It looks like as Dr Phil might stay on the main channel.

  8. Any idea what All Aust News will replace in the current schedule? I’m thinking Dr Phil (noon) and either The Project encore (11.30ish) or The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (after The Project).
