UPDATE: Nine, Southern Cross, TEN, WIN: affiliate changes

WIN News in Tasmania will move to an earlier 5:30pm start from Friday July 1st, as part of the new affiliate arrangements with TEN.

Currently airing as a one-hour bulletin at 6pm, it will shift to a 5:30pm start on weeknights, followed by The Project Live at 6:30pm. Family Feud will screen at 5pm, presumably ahead of its 6pm broadcast in other cities.

On weekends, WIN News will screen as a half-hour bulletin from 5.30pm from Saturday July 2nd.

WIN’s CEO Andrew Lancaster said, “WIN News in Tasmania’s new 5.30pm timeslot will deliver viewers a two hour line-up that includes a one hour bulletin presented and produced locally with news gathering resources across the state.

“We are excited to now have the standout team from the multi-Logie award-winning Australian news and current affairs television panel program, The Project, join us at 6.30pm. This means WIN will provide our Tasmanian viewers with one of the most comprehensive evening news and current affairs line-ups in the country.

“The WIN Network has always been committed to producing strong local news coverage and our position in this line-up reinforces the importance we place on keeping our viewers informed at both local and national levels.”

Regional news bulletin, All Australian News, will continue.

“Our new partnership with Network TEN is a great opportunity for us to revisit how we deliver our bulletins to Tasmanian viewers to ensure we are giving them the best news coverage possible,” he said.

“Add to that a slew of strong-performing shows and a network whose performance is growing and it bodes well for exciting times ahead for WIN.”

  1. WIN adverts in the Central West NSW are showing a new logo similar to TENs ie round, blue and have WIN inside it. David are they taking TEN shows but will brand it WIN. That would be different as know it has TEN under SCA.

    1. As I’ve mentioned before there are so many variables in this big change that I can’t verify everything alas. I know the logo you are referring to. When I asked WIN I was advised their logo is not changing. That’s all I can advise.

  2. Here in QLD we’ve been getting ads that come July 1st ch5 will now be WIN, WTF is going on? Does it mean SC10 will now be on ch8 and WIN on ch5, is it that simple.

This is really gonna screw with some older viewers who get used to pressing certain buttons to get there channel on.

  3. I dare say that we will just have to wait and see.
I am guessing is that Neighbours will be on 82 at 6.30.
I too am a bit miffed on not seeing the TEN news at five as it is a quality service. Even if they had half an hour of it would be quite good.

  4. Any idea whether One/Eleven will still have FF at 6pm or is that moving to 5pm also?
And, what’s airing 5pm Sat and Sun given that Ten have a 60 min national bulletin from 5-6?

    1. My understanding is ONE and ELEVEN are national playouts so it will probably run again (unless the 5pm happens to be a day old and the ONE / ELEVEN is actually the premiere). No word yet on your other question. As you can appreciate there are so many markets and changes coming next week that a lot of it will be ‘suck it and see’ as to how things pan out.

  5. On July 9 and 10 the news won’t screen at all unless if WIN decides to air the news at 6pm. As the Ten Network has major sporting event on that weekend.

    1. And what ‘major sporting event’ would that be? Ten regularly don’t show the News on a weekend when they have live sport on, so that’s hardly new.

      1. On that particular weekend its the Supercars race from Townsville. For instance, when Sandown 500 and Australian MotoGP is shown, the network has news Saturday and Sunday. However, when Australian MotoGP airs they might not have news at all

  6. I would have rather them kept the Ten news at 5 to be honest, I enjoy watching it. They should have just left the Win news at 6pm and cut it back to half an hour. Oh well guess I’ll switch to southern cross and watch their news instead or the Nine news on TDT.

  7. All Australian News will air at 7am/11.30pm according to my Foxtel Guide.
I’m a bit disappointed WIN aren’t going to continue with Melbourne’s Ten News at 5 into Tassie, actually found it to be a quality news service. I guess though we will now get Nine News out of Melb or Syd on TDT instead.
