TEN has released some stats on its 2016 MasterChef season, following its bumper finale.

Tuesday night was the network’s biggest primetime share in a year, putting the network on a path with Seven to snatch ratings glory this week.

TEN Chief Programming Officer, Beverley McGarvey, said: “Elena and Matt were a fantastic Top Two and we congratulate both on their great achievements during the competition.

“The big audiences MasterChef Australia captured last night – across all screens – is testament to its standing as one of the best programs on Australian television. For a show to produce such big numbers in its eighth season is remarkable.

“Not only is MasterChef Australia the most credible and respected cooking show in television, it is also a beautifully produced and family friendly series,” she said.

“Its success again this year reflects the hard work and dedication of our talented judges, mentors, guest chefs and contestants, as well as TEN’s Executive Producer Rick Maier, our production partners at Endemol Shine Australia and everyone at TEN who worked on the show.

“We have started working on the 2017 season of MasterChef Australia. Casting has begun and we are confident that next year will bring another exciting and compelling series,” Ms McGarvey said.
