MasterChef Australia-Season 8-Episode60-0

It was a terribly straightforward Thursday night with Seven News, ABC News and MasterChef all timeslot winners -the first time a Masterclass has topped the night this year.

But there was also staggered scheduling from 7:30pm onwards making direct comparisons difficult.

Tour de France again did well for SBS, lifting its primetime share.

Seven network won Thursday with a 25.7% share then Nine 25.3%, TEN 23.9%, ABC 16.7% and SBS 8.3%.

Seven News (1.04m / 1.03m) was best for Seven then Home and Away (734,000), The Chase (608,000 / 433,000) and Surveillance Oz (520,000 / 514,000). The Big Bang Theory was 277,000 / 259,000 and Rush Hour was 143,000 / 79,000.

Nine News led for Nine with 959,000 / 950,000 then A Current Affair (745,000), Hot Seat (558,000), NRL (392,000 in 2 cities) and The Footy Show (324,000 in 3 cities). Top Gear drew 194,000 in 3 cities.

MasterChef was #1 for TEN with 1.15m. The Project drew 675,000 / 467,000, SVU was 560,000 / 404,000 and TEN Eyewitness News pulled 480,000.

ABC News (785,000), 7:30 (624,000), QI (442,000), New Blood (428,000), Antiques Roadshow (314,000) and Barracuda (151,000) comprised ABC’s night.

On SBS it was Eating History: Italy (221,000), Tour de France (186,000), Made in Italy with Silvia Colloca (164,000), Poh and Co. (158,000) and SBS World News where the late edition (148,000) outranked the primetime (121,000).

ABC2’s Octonauts rocked multichannels with 317,000.

OzTAM Overnights: Thursday 21 July 2016.

  1. MC was good fun (just not enough catchup with former contestants). I would’ve loved one of the contestants to pat Garry on the head with “Considering where you were three months ago…”.
