The news comes despite Nine’s news dept taking a drubbing following its 60 Minutes debacle in Lebanon. But its 6pm News has been a dependable performer amid erratic primetime results this year.

Darren Wick, Nine’s Director of News and Current Affairs, said “We’re incredibly humbled by the loyalty of our audiences in Australia’s two largest cities and the trust they place in the news service that Nine provides. The daily commitment, dedication and hard work of our presenters, reporters, production teams and crews is second to none. And that’s why we’ll continue our commitment to bringing viewers more news, more stories and more variety, without bias, every day of the year.”

Meanwhile Seven News has won the year in Adelaide and Perth, leaving all the attention on the contest in Brisbane.

Updated: Seven News has also won every week nationally in 5 city metro this year.

  1. I mostly have ABC News 24 on 2nd screen all day…only turn off to watch the occasional program…most of my other viewing is on catch up….
If I do watch commercial channel news…it is TEN news @ 5PM

  2. How does this fare with total viewers Australia wide? if at the end of the rating season isn’t it the news that has been first most time in all states throughout the year that counts?
