SBS 2 lets you sink your teeth into a week of vampire movies from around the globe.

SBS 2 will sink its teeth into Vampire Week in early August as part of Olympics-alternative programming.

From Sunday 7th to Saturday, 13 August SBS 2 features primetime movies from around the globe, with everything from cult Aussie flick Thirst to 2013’s Only Lovers Left Alive.

The films include such actors as Tom Hiddleston, Tilda Swinton, Mia Wasikowska, Chris Sarandon, Gemma Arterton and Chantal Contouri.

The late Anton Yelchin also appears in Only Lovers Left Alive.

Only Lovers Left Alive (2013 UK)
Sunday, 7 August at 8.30pm
Set against the romantic desolation of Detroit and Tangiers, an underground musician, Adam (Tom Hiddleston), deeply depressed by the direction of human activities, reunites with his resilient and enigmatic lover, Eve (Tilda Swinton). Their love story has already endured several centuries, but their debauched idyll is soon disrupted by Eve’s wild and uncontrollable sister, Ava (Mia Wasikowska).

Kate (Chantal Contouri) is tracked down by the secret society members known as ‘The Brotherhood’, a society of vampires who believe that Kate is descended from an illustrious, aristocratic, Austrian vampire family of the 18th century.

Bitten by a vampire, a young woman (Karoline Herfurth) tries to leave her band of bloodsucking cohorts.

Night Watch (2004 Russia)
Wednesday, 10 August at 8.30pm

A dazzling mix of state-of-the-art visual effects, amazing action sequences, and nail-biting horror set in contemporary Moscow, this film revolves around the conflict and balance maintained between the forces of light and darkness – the result of a medieval truce between the opposing sides.

Mayhem follows when two female vampires (Gemma Arterton, Saoirse Ronan), on the run from a kindred group, take refuge at a seaside British community.
