With Olympic competition over, ABC’s Gruen was the top entertainment show last night pulling 927,000 viewers, while Anh’s Brush with Fame debuted well with 806,000 viewers as warm-up act.

TEN’s Bachelor also won its slot with 853,000 viewers and topped the Demos. RBT followed for Nine with Zumbo’s Just Desserts shedding a further 96,000 viewers for Seven.

Seven News was again the night’s biggest audience but the network had to settle for second, largely due to a dip for Zumbo and disinterest in its 10pm movie.

Nine won Wednesday with 28.4% then Seven 26.5%, TEN 21.5%, ABC 17.4% and SBS 6.3%.

Nine News (1.00m / 914,000) was best for Nine then RBT and A Current Affair (both 825,000), Hot Seat (598,000) and Movie: Skyfall (550,000).

The Bachelor (853,000) won its slot for TEN. The Project drew 684,000 / 471,000, Offspring was 668,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 529,000 and NCIS: Los Angeles was 230,000.

On SBS it was Great American Railway Journeys (284,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (220,000), SBS World News (175,000) and Frontline Doctors: Winter Migrant Crisis (111,000).

Shaun the Sheep (246,000) sure was best on multichannels.

  1. The Olympics hasn’t done 7 News any harm.
The Durrells is a delightful series superbly acted, well written and perfectly directed. Quality TV that deserves a larger audience and on the ABC. I really don’t know why 7 purchased it and then to market it as another Downton Abbey ! Nothing could be further from the truth. Obviously the stupids in marketing hadn’t watch any of it or read a page of any Durrell book. A wonderful series wasted on 7.

  2. Pointless is….well, a bit pointless….no where near the numbers old repeats of Antiques Roadshow pulled…(and which I prefer)….Also the 15 minute grabs of One plus One is just plain silly….half an interview….not worth watching…and I love One plus One…
I watched Great American Railway Journeys….

  3. I seem to recall suggesting that Zumbo would start high and then flop back down. Just like a pavlova – it’s too hard to make and then watch it crumble. The Block wins. Each to their own.

  4. Really enjoying the Durrells – something completely different.
Love the quirkiness and wonderful locals/scenery.
Keeley Hawes and screen daughter are particular standouts.
    Deserves to rate better.

  5. David, do you know if Nine has dropped the Wednesday episode of The Block for the series or just the week? I haven’t watched it in 2 years but I think Wednesday used to be the filler/challenge day.

  6. This season of Offspring obviously has different writers. The characters and storylines make no sense at all. Viewer numbers this season have been disappointing, I doubt we will get another season at this rate.
