Last night Nine News Melbourne farewelled weather presenter Rebecca Judd as she started maternity leave.
After some sincere words from anchor Peter Hitchener, sports presenter Tony Jones decided to add an affectionate touch, with a peck on the cheek.
….only to be outright rejected by Judd, in a move that ensured the exchange would go viral.
“Ok. This has gone well,” said a flummoxed Jones.
“You’re funny” laughed Hitch.
It’s not the first time the Jones / Judd exchanges have attracted attention. In April the pair had a frosty sign-off when Judd was filling in for Livinia Nixon.

How corny is Peter Hitchener: “he he you’re funny”. Also they should’ve started that outro music as Tony leant in to kiss her for added Hitchcock tension.
This is actually the third time theyve been hostile to each other on air – remember the ‘no thanks’ invitation to his BBQ? Do they really dislike each other that much that is spills on air?

Perhaps she was momentarily blinded by Chompers very white chompers.
He looked like he was aiming for her lips – I’m sure he wasn’t – but I can understand why she ducked, it was very awkward.
She is going off on maternity leave, he goes to give her a friendly peck on the cheek from a colleague…. Instead she turns away to embarrass him….
So the next time a colleague goes on mat leave I have to ask her to give her a peck on the cheek???

Nine must have hired someone new in publicity I think. All these videos of controversy lately that seem to go ‘viral’. First Sonia (Twice) and this… they do trail in the news don’t they? Does Sunrise beat Today? All too much ‘fake’ for my liking
mmmm you could be on to something there…..maybe they have seen an audience spike in shows like the footy show after Sam has been controversial……and it gave them the idea to try it elsewhere
Amazing why has this not caused rage he tried to kiss her without her permission well it just goes to show its who finds these things offensive that makes the loudest noise!
