Coffs Harbour-based auto event Rally Australia will be seen on the Nine Network this year, ending its broadcast deal with TEN.

The final round of the November event will screen on Nine with at least three stages to be shown Live.

In conjunction with Live coverage, Nine will host 60 minute preview and review shows alongside three 30 minute daily highlights packages throughout the event.

Rally Australia chairman Ben Rainsford told SpeedCafe, “Channel Nine have a reputation of hosting international sporting events when they had the Formula 1 and previously had the World Rally Championship.

“We will fit in nicely there. They have got some good talent and a good audience.

“We have only just finalised the deal and over the next three weeks the guys will fill in the details of what where and when.

“We are very excited about it as there are good ingredients there.”

Foxtel will also continue to broadcast the event Live.

  1. Even FoxSports can’t even get the daily highlights aired on scheduled time… which is a bummer but at least they can show the Live stuff right. Though in saying that I wasn’t impressed with my free sports for a month on Foxtel. One sport I follow on, around 1-2 times a month over a weekend or two and pay a premium of $XX a month? No thank you. But at least FTA is getting a run. I really miss Rally Australia on Channel TEN back in the day in Perth… ahh… the past. 4-7 hours of Live Rally Australia on the Saturday and Sunday of the rally weekend…

  2. With Ten only showing half of the Formula One races (and no qualifying sessions), six V8 Supercars rounds, and now this, their “Home of Motorsport” is little more than a one-bedroom flat with no carpet and a shared bathroom.

    1. they do televise qualifying but only for Albert Park. What about MotoGP? As that is certainly bigger than World Rally Championship. They are not ‘Home of Motorsport’ but rather the ‘Home of big event Motorsport’.
