From Sunday Seven begins a week-long celebration of all things AFL in the lead up to the one day in September (or even October).

Highlights include the documentary The Final Draw, the Brownlow Medal, the Grand Final Eve marathon and the Grand Final, Live and in HD in all states.

AFL Grand Final day coverage will include Dennis Cometti in his final TV footy call, plus Bruce McAvaney, Brian Taylor, Tim Watson, Leigh Matthews, Cameron Ling, Luke Darcy, Matthew Richardson, Wayne Carey, Hamish McLachlan, Basil Zempilas, Nick Maxwell,Andrew Welsh and Brad Sewell, along with Sam Lane and Mick Molloy.

AFL Documentary Special: The Final Draw
The drawn 2010 AFL Grand Final match between the Collingwood and St Kilda Football Clubs is arguably one of the most dramatic moments in AFL history.
This powerful tale delves deep into the emotions of St Kilda favourite Lenny Hayes, Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt, Magpie star Scott Pendlebury, the rare laconic musings of Ben Johnson, Collingwood skipper Nick Maxwell, the superstitions of Brendon Goddard and how that cruel bounce still haunts Stephen Milne. Coaches Ross Lyon and Mick Malthouse deliver some raw insights, as all those involved tell their contrasting story with pride, humour and despair, including extreme fanatics like Molly Meldrum.

AFL Brownlow Medal
On Monday night the Brownlow screens live on Seven, starting with a fashion-focused Brownlow Red Carpet Special at 7.30pm, co-hosted by Hamish McLachlan and Belinda Riverso, withRachael Finch and Andrew Welsh. Then Bruce McAvaney hosts the prestigious count to find the winner of the AFL’s most coveted individual honour, the Charles Brownlow Medal. Australian singer-songwriter Alex Lloyd will perform live.

  1. Maybe Ch 7 realize that not that many bother to watch AFL on FTA TV in Sydney,so what does it matter.
    Apart from that what a brain dead week AFL football thank Christ after the GF its over for a while

  2. it above states GWS game on saturday on ch7 so are they not showing this in Sydney in HD like the week before when the Swans game was in sd only on 7 and not HD on 7mate

    1. Very annoying – last week especially seeing that all the promos in Sydney for Swans games are “live and free on 7mate”. If they can’t switch the main channel to HD for a day or two in Sydney, then the games should still air on 7mate and in HD. Don’t get why they have to move them to Seven main when everyone who gets Seven main also can get 7mate as well in this day and age (and the majority of us in HD).

      Now have to put up with live and blurry for some of the most important games of the year…
